APRIL 2024 NEWSLETTER

Sierra View Senior Living

Hello Sierra View friends and family!

Hold onto your hats! We’ve just been informed that the Loch Ness Monster has been spotted in Lake Tahoe! And if you believe that, I’ve got a bridge to sell you – April Fool’s! With that bit of cheeky fun, let’s dive into what’s really happening this April. April starts with a laugh on April Fool’s Day and leads us into a month filled with celebration and appreciation. We’re excited to honor the wisdom and grace of our community’s women on Mature Women’s Day on April 9th. Mid-month, let’s get creative on World Art Day on April 15th, and don’t forget to celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd!

As the breezes of spring pick up, it’s the perfect time for Kite Month and Poetry Month. Imagine writing poems and flying kites in the spring breeze. It’s also National Card and Letter Writing Month, an ideal opportunity to rediscover the joy of handwritten communication. We’re also dedicating this month to showing gratitude to our amazing volunteers. A special shout-out to our animal volunteers, nail salon, Bible study, Chapel volunteers, and musicians. Why not send a thank you card or gift card to show your appreciation?

Keep an eye out for our church volunteers coming next month for hand massages, makeovers, and other delightful activities. We’re also planning a visit to see the tulips at Ananda.

At our recent Resident Council meeting, we discussed various exciting field trip ideas for April. We also brainstormed some delicious meal suggestions like breakfast burritos and pastries – always remembering the importance of staying hydrated.

We’ve got a line-up of musical treats from Kiki the Ukelele Girl at Lunch, Dan Scanlon and his Ukele friends,, Carol Meals and her very own Ukelele, and Nori! Join in on our Game Days featuring Yahtzee!, Bananagrams, Connect 4, and more. And for a touch of relaxation, our Paint and Sip event will perfect in April. We look forward to when the weather turns sunny and warm so we can have Popsicles on the Patio.

A gentle reminder: please prepare your evacuation bags with essentials like clothes, underwear, socks, and comfortable pajamas. Sandy or Bridget can assist you in refreshing your bag.

Great news about the Senior Center! Set to open in July at 231 Colfax Ave in Grass Valley, we’re all excited for the meals and activities to start. Remember, sign-ups begin in June.

Lastly, congratulations to our Resident of the Month, Carole, and our Staff Member of the Month, Tom who is part of our wonderful Kitchen Staff. Your contributions make Sierra View a wonderful place to be.

As we step into this blossoming season, let’s embrace each day with enthusiasm and togetherness. Your participation and suggestions are the heartbeat of our community. Here’s to making April an unforgettable month filled with beauty, love, and a bit of playful mischief!

Warm regards,

Sierra View
