June Newsletter

Greetings, dear residents and families!

We hope this newsletter finds you well and in good spirits. As summer heats up, it's time to savor the fruits and vegetables of the season, preferably fresh from the farm or the garden. Nothing beats the taste and nutrition of a ripe tomato, a juicy peach, or a crunchy cucumber. So let's celebrate June as National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month and dig in!

But before we get into the news, let's start with a little humor. Here's a joke to tickle your funny bone:

Why did the tomato turn red?

Because it saw the salad dressing!

Summer Safety:

  1. As temperatures rise, it's important to stay safe and healthy during the summer months. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  2. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water

  3. Wear sunscreen and protective clothing when spending time outdoors

  4. Avoid spending too much time in direct sunlight during peak hours (10am-4pm)

Outdoor Activities:

Summer is a great time to enjoy the outdoors! Our staff can help plan outdoor activities like birdwatching, nature walks, or tea in our garden. We plan to go on Monday morning walks outside.

Upcoming Events:

We will be celebrating Father's Day on June 18th with a special BBQ lunch and activities for our residents and their families. We invite residents family’s to join in celebration. Please let us know if you will be having any guests so we may accommodate you and your party. Thanks!

Resident Spotlight:

This month, we are shining a spotlight on one of our amazing residents, Dorothy Clary. Dorothy C. has been a resident at our facility for several months and loves participating in Balloon Badminton and BINGO. Dorothy worked with foster youths during her career— her work was very rewarding but difficult and sometimes heartbreaking. She is beloved by her nieces who visit her often. She came from Chico, where she has many friends from all walks of life. She loves to visit and take care of others and we are so lucky to have her!

Did you know that June is National Dairy Month? Celebrate by joining us every other Monday for Sundaes on Mondays! And in other good news: popsicles on the patio are back!

Summer is a great time to incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet. Try making a refreshing fruit salad with seasonal produce like watermelon, berries, and peaches.

Staying socially connected is important for our overall well-being. Don't forget to participate in our community events and activities, or simply reach out to a neighbor or staff member for a friendly chat. We love you at Sierra View!

Thank you for reading, and we hope you have a wonderful month ahead! If you have any suggestions or feedback for our newsletter, please let us know.

And on that note, here's another joke to make you smile:

Why did the farmer win an award?

Because he was out-standing in his field!

Best regards,
